Recap
Wow that game did not go how I thought it would. Going into that game I was totally expecting a 2-1 or 1-0 barnburner, but instead we got a shootout between the two teams. Losing Talbot in the second period definitely is what killed us. I’m extremely worried for our upcoming schedule though because we were building some good momentum, going 2-1-1 in the last 4 games, but now we will be without Talbot and Lyon for the time being. Joining Husso in the lineup will be Sebastian Cossa, who has the potential to be a Vezina winner, but he just hasn’t been given any opportunities yet. Unfortunately against the Canucks we just ran into a hot Jake Debrusk, who notched a hattrick against us on Sunday. I’m just a little pissed that, once again, the second period was absolutely killer, giving up 3 goals on 13 shots. However, that stat line is a little skewed as the first two goals came on a 5-3 penalty. The penalty kill has also been putrid, and with the amount of penalties we’re taking a game, that’s going to lose us games.
With the high scoring overtime loss, we also got killed on our picks, losing all three of them. After the 6th goal we were kind of fucked on the under and the parlay, but the real dagger was losing the game in overtime. We still had a chance to sneak away with a couple units, but Debrusk had other plans, finishing off his hattrick with the game winner. Despite the weak second period, they had a chance to win it, scoring 2 quick ones in the third to take the lead, but after a flurry of shots late in the third, it was too much for Husso to manage. My work schedules been brutal with giving me time to get these posts out, but I’m hoping I can squeeze out a couple good picks tonight against the Bruins.

Prediction
Tonight the Red Wings take on the Bruins for the second time this season. We played very well the last time we met them, only giving until we gave up a late one to Marchand to end the game 2-1. These late in the 3rd go ahead goals hurt so much because we can’t even get a point out of the game, but thankfully we haven’t had too many happen to us this year. I need to see some major improvements this game though from what I’ve been seeing as of late. The big one being, play out the whole game. What’s just killed the Red Wings this year is taking a period off and getting smoked during those 20 minutes. We could’ve won so many games this year if we didn’t let teams get back in it either early or in the middle of the game. We’ve shown signs of dominance, even against top teams, but can never manage it through 60 minutes. It’s so frustrating to watch, but it is also a very fixable issue. The other massive low spot is the penalty kill. The Wings have now taken 12 penalties in the last 3 games, while conceding 6 goals in that time frame. Going 50% on the PK is abosolutely brutal, and to be honest, has lost us a ton of games. I don’t know if they need to make a move soon for a solid PK guy, but something needs to change there.
After a couple days of only going with game picks, I think it’s time again to mix in some player props. The first one I will be going with is Dylan Larkin to put one in the back of the net. This is more so just a feel pick, but he’s struggled as of late and is due for a little scoring run. The next to picks are going to be a little more strategic, with the both of them being shots on goal bets. The first guy is the red hot man himself, Lucas Raymond. He’s scored 5 goals in his last 6 games, while averaging over 3 shots a game. At +120 this pick is very hard to pass up. The last guy we will be going with is actually on the opposing team. The only other time I picks another players shots from the opposing team it hit, so let’s get some units back from Pavel Zacha’s SOG line. In his last 6 games, he has also averaged exactly 3 shots a game so for the odds he’s been given, this is just another opportunity that I can’t pass up. On top of everything, I will also parlay them together for half a unit, with the hope that we can have a massive night. LGRW!
Picks
Larkin o0.5 Goals +125 (1u)
Raymond o2.5 SOG +120 (1u)
Zacha o2.5 SOG +140 (1u)
Parlayed Together +1100
