Overview
Well, it seems Michigan is all for the Red Wings after the state went red last night. Saturday was a great win for the Wings, as they evened up the season series at one apiece against Buffalo. With two big goals from Captain Larkin, the Wings breezed past the Sabres, shutting out their hot goal scorers 2-1. After letting in an early one from Touch and escaping the first period, Cam Talbot and the Wings took control of the last two periods, capitalizing on two of their powerplays. I wish we could’ve built some momentum off of that, but maybe these few days off will give Detroit some time to build a solid point push. While they did get out-shot by the Sabres, I’m still really happy with how the team played on Saturday.
For the first time, when the Wings won, we actually lost the parlay. While it sucks, I’m glad they were able to at least secure two points. The parlay was so close to hitting too, with us getting 2 of the 3 legs we needed. Unfortunately, Debrincat sold us by only securing 1 of 3 shots on net. With that in mind, similar to the Berggren bet, I am done for now with betting his shots. Thankfully, Raymond didn’t hit his over either, so there are no what-ifs about picking Debrincat over him. We have been on a little bender, losing our last four picks, but I am confident that will turn around tonight. With Kane knowing the United Center like the back of his hand, we will help us get back on track, with a massive unit size on the game tonight.

Prediction
We’ve had a nice little break from hockey since Saturday, but hopefully, that doesn’t mean the Wings will be caught sleeping. With a classic Original Six rivalry on tonight, there will be a lot of eyes on Detroit. The game will be the Wings’ first primetime game of the year, so hopefully the lights aren’t too bright. The Blackhawks are a good young team, but with most of their dynasty players gone or retired, the spotlight tonight is on veteran Patrick Kane, who won three cups with the Hawks. The Hawks are now led by promising star Connor Bedard, who has been explosive since entering the league. However, with the physicality the Wings like to bring, I suspect they will be able to control all ends of the ice and dominate this young Hawks team.
Similar to his connection with the city of Buffalo, I’m going to ride with Patty Kane to get a point tonight, along with the Wings to get the win with everyone watching. With the simplicity of this pick, I will be making my biggest bet ever on the blog, putting 4 units on the line to get us back on track. I think this matchup against the Blackhawks favors the Wings, so getting a win is definitely something that I’m confident in tonight. With Talbot having the better record, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lalonde leave him in tonight for his first back-to-back in a while. The Wings are well rested, and I expect them to make a statement tonight, and it all starts with the grizzled veteran, Patrick Kane.
