Overview
Following Thursday’s 5-2 loss against the Rangers, many Red Wings fans are in doubt. With an almost identical scoring line as the last game, although we got one more goal, the Wings just don’t have the fire they had at the end of the season. Now it could be worse, the Sabres are two games ahead and have the same number of wins, but 1-3 isn’t good enough. Lalonde is in the hot seat after making some questionable moves and not putting together a great product, but I remain optimistic.
Our betting record falls along with the Red Wings’ record to a disappointing 2-5 record. Granted Berggren was a bit of a long shot but still, the record stands. Mo Seider was able to get his first of the season, which was great to see, and the Rangers are Stanley Cup contenders, so while these losses suck, it is not the end of the world. With an early one today, the Red Wings look to bounce back against a familiar foe, which they shut out last weekend, the Nashville Predators.

Predictions
With a tough outing from Cam Talbot, Lalonde is looking for a spark from Alex Lyon. While he didn’t look great in his opener, I’m hoping to see him perform a lot better today. The boys just don’t seem to want to fight for Lalonde, so I’m hoping we can turn that around and rally around each other. With the predators starting horrendously at 0-4, we just can’t afford to give this game up. I believe that they will be sticking with their star goalie, Saros, despite him being 0-3 to start the year. I don’t expect him to get hot this quick, even though the goalies the Wings have played all look like Vezina candidates when we play them.
As I said in the last blog, I’m going to ride Berggren to get his first of the season for the next couple of games. I know it is coming, it is just a matter of when. Along with Berggy, I have high hopes for Raymond to get his first of the season as well. I didn’t even notice that he hadn’t got his first until I was looking at today’s preview. In light of the great tradition of college football Saturday, I will also be combining the over today with the Red Wings moneyline. This is a must-win for the Wings, despite it being game 5, but they just need some momentum here, and I expect fireworks down in Nashville.
