Detroit Red Wings vs. Toronto Maple Leafs 12/14

Recap

I swear there’s nothing better in this world than working a 10 hour shift, being exhausted, and coming home to watch my Wings give up 4 doughnuts to one guy on the ice. I’ve highlighted it before, but we’re at a point now where i think in over half of our losses, one guy on the other team gets like 2+ goals in the games. I don’t even know how to prevent something like that, but man is it annoying. We shut down one guy and we potentially win that game 1-0. Instead we go another game where we can’t win back to back. We just can’t afford to be getting outshot by 10 against a team like the Flyers, especially when we’re giving up 4 and only scoring 1. That was the first loss I’ve seen where we actually dominated in hits, but besides that, there wasn’t much to celebrate. it sucks because these blogs have been a little lackluster with my current work schedule, but maybe I feel like I’m still putting in more work and effort writing these, than the Wings have given us all season. But as I’ve said a million times, it’s just onto the next.

Thursday also marked another night where we got slaughtered on our picks. The over came close, only missing it by one goal, but that wouldn’t have even mattered as the Wings only scored 1 somehow. That’s the thing with these parlays is that you really have to be perfect for them to hit, and when we’ve done multiple picks for games, we haven’t had the best success with getting all the picks right. Usually we’ll hit the one big one, but then miss the one we thought would hit. But hopefully that dry streak can end tonight against the Leafs.

Prediction

I just don’t see things getting any better tonight against a solid Leafs squad. They already beat us once before, which is a bad sign, and we’re just not playing like a team right now. With the playoff spot in reach I’m hoping we can continue to just hold on for dear life, and stay at least 4-6 points away entering all star break. I think that’s the key to our success. Last year we were red hot around this time, but a big losing streak after ended up killing us. But maybe getting the losing streak over with early, is the way we finally end this playoff streak. The last time we played the Leafs, we got a team that was without their best player, however, that didn’t even matter because captain Tavares decided to step up and score 2 goals in a 3-1 win. We’ve had so many of those 1 goal games where there’s just no chance for us to win and boy is it frustrating. Honestly all I want for Christmas is for the Wings to just string together a 4-1 or a 5-0 record in their next 5 games. Is that really too much to ask for? With my long week I just had at work, I'm praying I can come home and actually enjoy a Wings game knowing I can relax tomorrow on my off day.

With tonight’s pick, I’m just not confident enough to take the Wings to be successful in any way. I’m going to ride with the trends from last game and do a little 2 legger for a couple units. The first leg of the lay is going to be something that I despise going, but with how these Wings games have been trending, the under in total goals seems like the smart move tonight. But with those odds not the best, we do need a little juicer, and who better than to go back to a Larkin power play point. While this does contradict the under…you know what, we’re switching it up and I’m actually going to go with the alt line over instead. So to wrap up the lay, we’re going with a Larkin power play point and over 5.5 goals to be scored. Good luck tonight everyone.
