Prediction

Tonight marks a new beginning for the young Detroit team. With the news of Lalonde’s firing coming out last night, the Wings will see a new name behind the bench. Todd McLellan will make his debut as the head coach for the Red Wings tonight, although he was an assistant coach for the team from 2005-08, so he knows what winning was like in Hockeytown. With the much needed firing, I have no clue what team we will see tonight. They might be fired up to have the bum gone or we might find out that it wasn’t even Lalonde’s fault or not. In other Red Wings news, Pellika showed the world how good this team’s future looks, scoring a hatty in Sweden’s opener of the World Juniors. I just hope it won’t be too late by the time he’s ready to go for us. Back to the game tonight, the Wings enter the series tied at 1-1 with the Leafs, but tonight’s game means a lot. I got faith that this new hiring is the key to this team’s success, but I guess we’ll see.

I’m going to keep the pick simple. I’m going to trust that Stevie Y knows what he’s doing and that we will see a revitalized team with Todd behind the bench. Wings moneyline is the obvious choice, and with the break and coaching change, this is a chance for the Wings to turn the season around with a nice 5 unit win over the Leafs. We’ll find out if this team is legit or not, but I will have faith for the time being.
