Recap
Thursday was probably the barest worst case scenario for the Wings. What seemed like a game where Husso was keeping them in it, they just couldn’t hold on long enough to scrap out a point. Unfortunately, they just had to give the big one up with under a minute left. It seemed as though every time I was watching the game, the Wings were killing a penalty off. It’s just getting rediculous at this point. The refs are calling the weakest shit on them all game long. 5 penalties in a game when we only get 3 is insane. Thankfully we actually killed all 5 of them off, but it’s such a momentum killer when 10 minutes of the 60 is spent without possession of the puck. Having Kaner back on the PP was much needed though. As I predicted in the last blog. I felt like Debrincat would take advantage of his former team, and he got the lone goal for the wings on the powerplay. Unfortunately, that would be the only goal of the game for them, despite peppering the Sens goalie all game long. I swear we are the kings of giving guys multiple goal nights. Recently it was Debrusk getting a hatty for the Canucks, and tonight it was Josh Norris, scoring 2 for the Sens. Just heartbreaking overall and I don’t know if things will get any better unless Lalonde is fired.
We got slaughtered on the line 2 picks we had as well. The Lions won so Detroit isn’t down terrible, but the wings foiled the solo pick, as well as the parlay by losing to the Sens. Unfortunately, I put a lot of my eggs in those baskets, which costed us a whopping 7 units on Thursday. There isn’t much to add onto that, just a brutal loss on a night that ended with nothing good happening for the Wings. They need to get a grip, especially against an Avs team that has been giving up 4+ goals a game.

Prediction
Tonight the Wings head to LCA to take on probably the weirdest team in the NHL right now. When I went to the Bolts game last week, the Avs got absolutely slaughtered, giving up what I believe was 8 goals. Then the other night they give up 4 quick ones to the Sabres, but miraculously come back to win that game. I can’t tell if they are their elite selves yet. Regardless, they get to come to Detroit to play a battered and hopeless Wings team that couldn’t beat my old high school team. They show these signs of hope but instantly revert back to their mid selves when they start to show improvement. It’s tough being a fan of a team that just doesn’t seem to care about the fans. With everyone calling for Lalondes head, it’s sad to see nothing be done. While we may be solid in some aspects of them game, seeing the team as 31st in the league on the kill and 27th in the league in goals for is depressing. The refs will always be against us for some reason, so we need to change up how we’re practicing the kill, or at least change up the killing formation. I’m running out of ways to defend this team and give them a chance, when all they do is constantly rip my heart out. And to see them still in a muck after barely missing last year is just so dejecting. Things just have to get better and unfortunately I feel as though we will have to wait some years for our young guys to develop. But who knows what this team will look like by the time we get there.
With my lack of confidence in the team, I don’t even feel comfortable with giving out picks, especially for everyone riding on them. However, tonight is a good night for a simple parlay, that even if the Wings don’t pull out a win tonight, could still hit. This one will all come down to the Wings ability to put the pucks in the back of the net, but they need to show some improvement. I’d much rather lose games when we’re scoring 4-6 goals a game. Right now we’re just playing the most boring hockey ever AND losing games, which is the worst combination as a fan. So tonight’s picks are going to be the game over and Wings over, parlayed together with a chunk of units on them.
