Overview
Finally, we got to see the team everyone was expecting to see. Thanks to Cam Talbot and the massive step up of the defense, the Wings were able to shut out the Nashville Predators. Talbot played phenomenally, stopping all of the 42 shots that came his way. We also saw Compher and Copp notch their season's firsts. Blocking 31 shots and getting physical with the Preds was another key to our success. I said in my last post that I wanted to see the defensemen step up for Talbot and they did it in a massive way.
It was a relief to see the Red Wings get rewarded for their play, as compared to game one when nothing could seem to go their way. In the prediction of my last blog, I had hoped to see Larkin command the team, and he produced, scoring the empty net to seal the game. If anyone followed the parlay I made, you would’ve had a good night alongside me as all three hit for us. The shutout from Talbot gave us the win and Larkin’s point that we needed, also happened to be the third goal we needed for the team total. Overall, it was a great night for the team and fans, but let’s carry some of that momentum into tonight against the New York Rangers.

Predictions
Tonight we play the New York Rangers, who recently fell victim to the red-hot Utah Hockey Club. Both teams produce high-scoring opportunities so don’t be surprised to see the score high tonight. While I wish we would let Talbot stay hot tonight, I believe 2023 star Alex Lyon will be patrolling the crease tonight. He has a tough matchup against Igor Shesterkin, so hopefully we can see him come right back into the form that he left at.
While it's not the first matchup against each other, it’s always good to see former teammates, Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin go at each other, especially when Kane left the Rangers to come here. It’s also a big game for Tarasenko who is also a former Ranger, although he’s fresh off of the Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers. As we saw a couple of days prior Lucas Raymond gets the chance to take command of his own line, centering both Compher and Tarasenko. I like this move by Lalonde, as we're giving him a chance to shine without Larkin and Debrincat, so hopefully they can continue their momentum into the game tonight. Expect another gritty game against another Stanley Cup contender tonight, but don’t be surprised to see more numbers in the goal column for both teams.
