Detroit Red Wings vs Vancouver Canucks 12/1

Recap

To be honest with you, I’m not as mad about that Devils game as I should be. Other than the fact that the Devils got a million powerplays and scored 3 off their 5 goals on it, I felt like the Wings battled to the end. Despite a horrendous 2nd period, they played 1 and 3 pretty solid. They just have to clean up a few things and they’ll be alright. Now maybe I’m a little blind and optimistic right now because Michigan just pulled the biggest upset in The Game’s history, but the Wings did the best with what they had. Now I will say the powerplay misses Kane dearly. Since he has been out they have struggled tremendously on the powerplay, but have somehow gotten better on even strength. Another massive bright spot for the team is that every line is firing on all cylinders. Tyler Motte, who’s been stellar since joining the roster, got his first of the season, and defenseman, Justin Holl also got his first as well. The team is finally starting to play like a team again, and hopefully they can continue this play.

While Friday was technically a losing day for the picks, I count that as a wash since all we lost was 0.1 units. It looked promising too with the Wings scoring 2 quick ones, and setting their team total up for success. The team total ended up hitting with ease, but unfortunately, the Wings couldn’t get the win to secure the moneyline pick. As a result, missing one of those picks also lost our parlay as well. Overall, I’m not really too upset as I was extremely busy on Friday, so those picks were kind of thrown together, so I’ll take a wash all day. Especially after the day I had yesterday with Michigan beating Ohio State, which ended up paying me 80 units in total, we can afford to lose 0.1 units on game 23 of 82. With the bankroll in full throttle, I expect the Wings and my picks to start heating up for me.

Prediction

Vancouver is a tough opponent, but I think the Wings are up for the challenge. Lankinen’s been very solid on the road, as well as their whole team on defense. They limit high scoring chances and are elite on the penalty kill. If the Wings are going to win this game, they will have to stay gritty for all three periods. I have a feeling it is going to be a low scoring game, as well as extremely boring, like many of the Islanders games. Which actually works in our favor, since we beat the Islanders 3 times this season. The Canucks are a very disciplined team, so we may only see 1 or 2 powerplay chances for the Wings this afternoon, which usually I would be worried about, but with how the teams been playing of late, that may benefit us. Detroit must play hard throughout every period though. They cannot take a period off, which they love to do, because every goal will matter in this game.

I’m keeping it simple again with my picks today. I actually love the Wings to win this game, despite being underdogs. They thrive in these boring games when they don’t have to outscore teams. As long as they can grind it out, a +110 moneyline win is totally doable. To ride off of that pick and how the game will go, I will also be taking the under for the first time this season. It really does burn me to my core to have to take an under, but this game is priming up for it. The game will be taking place during NFL Sunday, so not many people will be tuning in, which sets up perfectly for a low scoring barn burner. To wrap things up, as I love to do, I will also be parlaying these together in hopes that I can stay hot after my big win yesterday.

Picks

Red Wings ML +110 (1u)

Total Goals u5.5 +100 (1u)

Parlayed Together +275 (1u)
